Particles of different types are drawn into the appliance through the fan, and then pass through a plasma field, which is similar to an ionisation field. Ions are generated in the near field of a special ionisation electrode, and these then migrate to a counter electrode. As they do so, they electrically charge and thereby magnetise toxic substances, bacteria, viruses, microbes, dust mites and dust particles, which are then deposited permanently on the counter electrodes. This method allows large quantities of pollutants to be removed without a rapid loss of filter performance. The plates in the filter work like huge magnets or tractor beams for pollutants in the air.
